The first and second installments of a long interview I'm doing with the Bulgarian-born, Paris-based writer Tzvetan Todorov can be found on the website of the journal Critical Inquiry. The full text of the interview will appear in print in a forthcoming issue of the journal, but the first few Q & As are being rolled out one at a time on the journal's website. The first two questions are about Todorov's thoughts on, respectively, the November riots in France and the Danish cartoon affair. Subsequent questions explore his take on the spring demonstrations in France, the future of Europe, 'critical humanism', the and many other topics.
